Healthier Lake Worth Beach
Position Title:
Project Coordinator. Full-time, 40 hours. Must be flexible. Speak English, Spanish, or Creole.
Overview:
Healthier Lake Worth Beach is a grassroots, resident-led initiative committed to improving behavioral health in the Lake Worth Beach community. We work to improve the cleanliness, environment, and safety of Lake Worth Beach neighborhoods and promote healthy behaviors that impact the overall health and well-being of the residents.
The position will be held at For The Children Inc., which is the Fiscal Agent on behalf of the community.
To engage and organize residents around place-based issues that affect their quality of life and neighborhood livability. To collect information from residents and stakeholders while supporting, sustaining, and creating new ways for them to stay or become empowered through the initiative.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Cultivate and sustain relationships with community members, community partners, institutions, and key stakeholders.
- Develop advocacy skills and strengthen the capacity of community members to work with local government leaders, policymakers, law enforcement leaders, and city staff.
- Interact directly with residents and stakeholders (Public).
- Identify and foster grassroots leadership.
- Work with residents to develop and conduct efforts for cleaner, greener, safer communities.
- Provide project coordination for neighborhood health project expansion.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Develop and coordinate a detailed project schedule and work plan.
- Provide Project updates consistently to various stakeholders and residents about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
- Support consensus-building among community members, project partners, and stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with other organizations providing resources, outreach, and education.
- Develop, sustain, and support partner resources and asset mapping efforts.
Additional Functions – Organizational Building: Administration & Operation
- Implement and maintain internal operating procedures for effective and efficient project implementation (e.g., budgeting, expense reports, etc.).
Leadership Development
- Facilitate relationships between community members and foster shared ownership and responsibility for HLWB’s work.
- Build residents’ understanding of educational issues and policies profoundly impacting the opportunities to build a healthier community.
- Develop and conduct workshops, meetings, training, and strategy sessions that engage community members, change agents, and unify members toward common goals.
Evaluation
- Maintain information about the results of outreach efforts to manage follow-up and relationship-building with the community effectively.
- Input related qualitative and quantitative data to base building and leadership development progress and results.
- Assess self, team members, and the initiative for strengths and areas for ongoing improvement.
Characteristics and Requirements
- Three to five years of previous experience with community change projects with tangible results – i.e., numbers of members/leaders, small/big Wins, visibility.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and foster collaboration in environments with racial, ethnic, language, immigrant status, and economic class diversity.
- Computer and social media proficiency.
- Oral and written fluency in the English language.
- Able to communicate across different literacy levels.
- Proficiency in writing styles is necessary to communicate professionally with various individuals.
- Familiarity with the history and political landscape of the City of Lake Worth Beach.
Work Conditions:
- Willingness and availability to work an average of 2 evenings per week and periodic weekends.
- The baseline schedule is approximately 9:00 am – 6:00 pm; in the evening, when we have community meetings or events, work will typically end around 8:30 pm.

Salary: Within the range of $45,000 – $50,000 annually. The pay will be commensurate with experience.
